Originally founded in the late 1950’s, Physicians was a dominant medical transportation provider until 1994. The Company was sold by the owners Ronald and Robert Hess. In 2001, the Company was reestablished in Warrensville Heights, by Ronald Hess and his business partner Terry Finnerty. Late March 2001, Physicians began Ambulance operations out of Cranwood Parkway, in Warrensville Heights, OH with 5 used squads. Much of the original workforce had worked with Ron or Terry in the past and joined the experiment known as Physicians. Our goal was to establish ourselves as the highest quality private ambulance service. Compete on service. Our customers have the choice of many providers; we are always honored when they call us. Our response is to offer the best product and services available.

In a service industry, people are the differential, and our people are amongst the best trained pre-hospital health care professionals around. In 2001 we defined a service “footprint” and went about the mission of servicing all of the Skilled Nursing Facilities and Hospital patients in that area. Our service consisted of Advanced Life Support Ambulance only as we partnered with Wheelchair providers to handle those needs. Early in 2002 we acquired a small competitor and moved operations to Emery Road, Warrensville Heights, OH. There are very defined areas of the Company. Ron Hess is President and oversees all aspects of the Company. Terry Finnerty is Vice President and his primary focus in on the customer through sales and marketing. Scott Wildenheim is EMS/Operations Manager and oversees daily EMS field operations. Joe Byrne is wheelchair operations manager, and oversees all wheelchair field operations. Kathy Scott is Manager of Patient Accounting and oversees the billing process. Sue Byrne oversees the patient accounting of the wheelchair division, specializing in Medicaid reimbursements.

Janey Norvaisa is Manager of Accounting/Human Resources. Other management personnel consist of Ed McCormack, field operations and scheduling, Wayne Burge, field operations, customer education and driver training, Physicians operates out of a single base site. We utilize a system status management operation that allows us to post squads based on demand and traffic patterns. This allows the most efficient deployment of resources for use by our customers. Since March of 2001, Physicians has had dramatic growth throughout Cuyahoga County. Currently we service customers from all Communities in Greater Cleveland. Michelle Sibula is the operations / patient accounting liaison, specializing in QA/QC of the patient care reports and billing forms.

We have expanded into the Wheelchair Transportation business; however, we still utilize our Wheelchair partners for overflow. Our 5 initial ambulances have all been replaced and today we operate the newest fleet of ambulance in the market. Our squads carry the best pre-hospital equipment and supplies. Our
vehicles are monitored by satellites and each ambulance has a field data computer to document and look up past patient histories. From 5 ambulances to over 20 vehicles, our growth is a testament to our employees and customers. Our basic tenant of our company remains; we are in a competitive marketplace and look forward to being successful by offering consistently high quality services.
In September of 2006 we purchased a
new greatly enlarged facility, moving again back to Cranwood Parkway. The
new building allowed us to expand our workforce and our service offerings.
Nearly simultaneously we also acquired a west side satellite location to
provide better coverage to our west side customers. Physician’s two new
facilities assure that we are able to meet the demands of our customers in a
timely manner.
Following the move, Physicians has expanded its wheelchair services to meet customer demand nearly doubling our capabilities. Concurrently we added management specific to the wheelchair division and developed internal billing practices more specific to the wheelchair business. The additions of personnel also carried over to the ambulance division where additional dispatching and quality assurance personnel were assigned.
